Who we are:
Navy League National Capital Council- Navy League of the United States
Navy League is the foremost citizens’ organization to serve, support and stand with all the sea services of the United States. Founded in 1902, the Navy League has three missions: to enhance the morale of active duty personnel and their families; to inform Congress and the American public on the importance of strong sea services; and to support youth through programs such as the Naval Sea Cadet Corps, Junior ROTC and Young Marines that expose young people to the values of our sea services.
The National Capital Council of the Navy League works to accomplish this mission locally in the Washington, D.C. Specifically, we proudly support Navy, Coast Guard and Marine commands across the area, as well as the sea service military spouse organizations in our nation’s capital. Additionally, we fully fund six Sea Cadet units, sponsor Navy, Coast Guard and Merchant Marine ships, and provide a number of youth scholarships. As one of the largest and most active chapters in the Navy League, our volunteers diligently work to promote and support the sea service community in Washington, D.C.
Who can join.
are non-active-duty members (both prior-military and passionately interested civilians) and are the nation’s watchdogs for the sea services and track issues regarding military preparedness, modernization, and all other matters relative to maintaining U.S. strength at sea. Members of the Navy League are also recognized for their integrity, patriotism and community service, especially on the waterfront. Additionally, we conduct educational programs promoting a second-to-none sea service and support for the people who serve and their families. Although current active-duty personnel cannot become members, their spouses, family members, and inactive reservists are indeed invited to join. See www.navyleague.org for more info.
